£0.80

Green bananas are packed with fibre, pre-biotics, and probiotics, all of which help with digestion. For people with digestive conditions like irritable bowel syndrome, eating foods that aid digestion may be particularly important. In terms of taste, green bananas are a little less sweet than their yellow counterpart. Regarding texture, they have been described as a little waxy whilst composition wise, green bananas are higher in starch. Green bananas contain a high amount of resistant starch and pectin, which have been linked to several health benefits. As bananas ripen, most of the starches are turned into sugar.

Storage Instructions

To ensure the optimal freshness and ripening of green bananas, it is essential to store them correctly. Keep green bananas at room temperature until they reach the desired ripeness. However, if you want to slow down the ripening process, store them in the refrigerator. The cold temperature will slow the enzymatic activity that causes bananas to ripen. Avoid placing green bananas near other fruits, as some fruits release ethylene gas, which can accelerate the ripening of bananas. Additionally, it's advisable to keep bananas in a ventilated space to prevent moisture buildup, which can lead to premature spoilage. By following these storage tips, you can extend the shelf life of green bananas and enjoy them at their peak ripeness.
